The debut album from Aphid. A promising new band from New Zealand guitarist Nick Broadhurst.
At times the music sounds like a jazz album and often it sounds like a prog-rock or post-rock album. The hard –hitting time signature grooves and atmospheric guitar riffs help push the music into this category. The music contains a consistent atmosphere and mood throughout the album both with rock-like outbursts and quieter melodic moments.
A debut album open to various sources of musical inspiration and well worth a buy.

Die erste CD-Platte von Aphid. Eine viel versprechende Band vom neuseeländen Gitarrist Nick Broadhurst.
Manchmal tönt es als ein Jazz Plattenalbum aber ebenso häufig als ein Prog-Rock- wie auch Post-Rockalbum aus. Die harten Schlagperkussionsgrooves und Stimmungsumschwüngen der Gitarrenriffs stossen eindeutig in diese Musikkategorie auf. Die Musik enthält durch das ganze Album eine gewichtige Portion von stimmungsreicher Atmosphäre und "mood", beides mit Rock-Ausbrüchen wie auch melodischen und friedlichen Momenten gekoppelt.
Ein Début-Album aus verschiedenen musikalischen Inspirationsquellen und, anders gesagt, unbedingt zu kaufen.

Il CD di debutto del gruppo musicale Aphid. Una band con ottime premesse fondata dal chitarrista neozelandese Nick Broadhurst.
A volte pare di ascoltare un album di musica jazz ma spesso anche un album di rock progressivo o di rock postmoderno. La percussione martellante ed i "riffs" di chitarra elettrizzanti lo configurano in questo genere di musica. La musica che attraversa tutto l'album è improntata ad un'atmosfera idilliaca e a molta sensibilità, dove dei momenti di serenità e tranquillità melodici si fondono con esplosioni rockeggianti.
Un debutto in piena regola, ispirato da sorgenti musicali diverse, in poche parole un CD da assolutamente ascoltare.
